Meanwhile, in New York City’s American Museum of Natural History, Van Cleef & Arpels presents the enchanting “Garden of Green” exhibit, residing in the Halls of Gems and Minerals until January 2024. Focused on the mesmerizing world of green gemstone jewelry, the exhibition features 44 stunning pieces, with 32 making their debut in the United States.
From peridot to malachite, jadeite, emerald, and more, the diverse shades of green in these high-jewelry pieces evoke a sense of awe. Highlights include the Cydonia necklace and earrings adorned with over 900 emeralds, an Art Deco evening bag from the 1920s, and the Quatre Chemis emerald necklace featuring unique Zambian emeralds weighing 27.79 carats.
George Harlow, curator emeritus of the Museum’s Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals, notes, “While the most well-known green gems are emerald and peridot, Garden of Green brings additional green stones, with their beautiful, diverse shades, into the spotlight.”
