Recent FCC documents have hinted at exciting developments for the upcoming Pixel Watch 2, including the introduction of new wristbands and intriguing hardware features.
Currently, there are six wristband options available for the Pixel Watch. These include the default soft-touch fluoroelastomer band that comes with the watch, two fabric straps, two leather straps, and a metal link band. Interestingly, when the original Pixel Watch was released, a seventh band, the metal “Milanese” mesh band, was advertised but never made available. The Google Store even removed the “coming soon” listing for this band back in April.
However, the FCC paperwork suggests that the metal mesh band is making a comeback with the Pixel Watch 2, along with the potential addition of a third, smaller band known as the metal slim strap.
It’s worth noting that the quick-release strap connector and mounting on the Pixel Watch appear to remain unchanged. This implies that the new bands designed for the Pixel Watch 2 should also be compatible with the original Pixel Watch, expanding the options for both devices. Ensuring compatibility between generations benefits users by offering a wider range of choices for their watch straps.
In addition to the exciting wristband updates, the Pixel Watch 2 is set to introduce new hardware features. Google’s teaser trailer for the Pixel Watch 2 launch hints at an additional sensor at the back of the watch, confirming the presence of a larger rotating crown and an IP68 rating for enhanced durability and functionality.
With these promising developments, the Pixel Watch 2 is generating considerable anticipation among wearable tech enthusiasts. Google seems poised to deliver an upgraded and versatile smartwatch experience with this new release.
