Vacheron Constantin, renowned as one of the world’s most historic watchmakers (established in 1755), is set to showcase a collection of extraordinary vintage watches from its Geneva museum in Sydney.
Curated from a vast private collection of around 1600 items, the exhibition, titled “Timeless Horology,” will be a prominent feature at the Financial Review About Time watch fair scheduled for September 22-23.
This exhibition serves as a testament to the brand’s evolving stylistic journey over the years. According to Christian Selmoni, the brand’s style and heritage director based in Switzerland, “Regardless of the intricacy of the mechanisms and the complexity of complications, it embodies a philosophy of watch design where simplicity transforms into sophistication.”
The outcome is a distinct form of horological minimalism that has gracefully transcended various ages and epochs.
Visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to witness these historical timepieces up close, ranging from the expected classics to the delightfully unconventional.
Among the modern pieces making a rare appearance in Australia are a trio of retrograde novelties – Overseas, Patrimony, and Traditionnelle – which were recently unveiled at the Watches and Wonders event in Geneva earlier this year.
In addition to this captivating exhibition, attendees will have the privilege of participating in masterclasses led by a skilled watchmaker who will assemble a movement right before their eyes. The intricate process will be projected onto a screen, providing insight into Vacheron’s unique approach to watchmaking and the fascinating stories behind each creation.
