Apple has quickly removed the watchOS 11.4 update from its website, just after a short period of availability. The update, which included a few notable changes, is now no longer accessible for users.
The main feature of watchOS 11.4 was the introduction of a new “Break Through Silent Mode” option within the Sound & Haptics settings. This feature allows sound and haptics to be played on your Apple Watch even if Silent Mode is turned on. Prior to this update, enabling Silent Mode would disable sounds and only allow haptics to be used during alarms, particularly when the watch was worn to bed.
In addition to this change, the update brought support for Matter, which allows Apple Watch users to control robotic vacuums and mops using voice commands. Users could now ask their watch to start or stop cleaning, return to its dock, enable or disable mopping, and switch cleaning modes.
As with many other updates, watchOS 11.4 also included several quality-of-life improvements, such as bug fixes and enhancements to the overall system performance. These updates are essential for maintaining smooth device operation and ensuring that features introduced in earlier releases perform optimally.
The watchOS 11.4 update, identified as build number 22T251, comes after the release of watchOS 11 in September 2024, which introduced customizable Activity Rings, a Vitals app for advanced health monitoring, and a new Training Load tool for athletes.
