Omega Seamaster Diver 300m: New Releases and Features

by crystal-cq

The popular Omega Seamaster Diver 300m has gained more popularity in the market since its last modification, benefiting from the trend of diving watches like the Submariner and the soaring market of luxury watches. It comes from a renowned brand, features a distinctive design with a certain historical background. Moreover, both the internal and external conditions of the watch are of high standards, and its secondary market price is relatively reasonable. In the situation where some popular diving watches are hard to come by, the Seamaster Diver 300m has become an ideal alternative. Over the past few years, the series has steadily expanded its styles, and stunning new pieces have been introduced from time to time. For instance, an America’s Cup special edition was launched on the eve of the 37th America’s Cup Sailing Competition in 2024.

Do you still remember that during the 2024 Paris Olympics, when Omega brand ambassador, British actor Daniel Craig, went to France to watch the Olympic Games, he wore a watch that no one had seen before. It looked somewhat like the Seamaster Diver 300m but was not the current model. At that time, the foreign media Time+Tide asked Omega what kind of watch this was, and the response was: “The details of this watch will be announced later this year. For now, no comment…” Well, the answer has come.

The new piece is inspired by the 60th-anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film, but the bezel and dial are changed to black, and the 12 o’clock mark on the bezel is changed back to an inverted triangle.

Omega has launched the latest Seamaster Diver 300m. As soon as the watch appeared, people could immediately link it to the mysterious watch worn by Daniel Craig during the Olympics. The first impression of this watch is somewhat similar to the “60th-anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film (blue dial)” of the same series. Omega indeed extended a general commercial version based on that special edition. There are several features that this watch shares with the 007 special edition, such as the 42mm stainless steel case, the arc-shaped sapphire crystal glass, the fine wave pattern on the dial that harks back to the early days of the Seamaster Diver 300m, and the Milanese bracelet. However, the aluminum bezel and dial of the new model are changed to the standard black of diving watches, and the 12 o’clock mark on the bezel is changed back to an inverted triangle instead of the number 60. Of course, the 007 film opening animation pattern designed based on the Moiré principle is no longer on the transparent caseback.

Omega additionally adds a titanium bezel and a brushed stainless steel dial model, which is a new design currently unique to the series.

The watch has an excellent luminous effect in the dark, making time reading clear and effortless.

In addition to the stainless steel case with black dial and Milanese bracelet version, the new Seamaster Diver 300m also has a stainless steel case with black dial and black rubber strap version (the pricing varies with different strap versions). Additionally, Omega has also introduced another model made of the same stainless steel material with the same diameter. However, the bezel is changed to titanium material and features laser-etched convex diving scales and a grain texture treatment. A similar shape first appeared on the Seamaster Diver 300m Titanium and Tantalum Limited Edition. Its dial is not the standard ceramic of the Seamaster Diver 300m series but is changed to a PVD brushed stainless steel – this shape is the first of its kind in the series and is more innovative than the black dial worn by Daniel Craig. The titanium bezel model, like the black bezel and black dial model introduced earlier, has both Milanese bracelet and rubber strap versions. The latter is changed to gray, similar to the color of the dial, to achieve a more harmonious visual effect.

Both bezel models have Milanese bracelet or rubber strap versions for the market to choose from.

Another feature of the new Seamaster Diver 300m is that they have removed the date display, indicating that the movement equipped is not the 8800 movement used in most of the series’ works but the 8806 movement, the same as the 60th-anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film. Apart from the presence or absence of the date function, the two movements are the same in other aspects, such as the balance wheel frequency (25,200vph) and power reserve (55 hours), and the quality certified by the Master Chronometer is also the same. There won’t be a strong gap in the wearing experience. The remaining is a matter of choice in terms of styling.

The watch is equipped with the date-free 8806 automatic movement, which is certified by the Master Chronometer and has a power reserve of 55 hours.

It should be noted that regardless of the rubber strap or bracelet version of the new Seamaster Diver 300m, the pricing has slightly increased compared to the current other models. However, if comparing the black dial version with Milanese bracelet to the 60th-anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film, the former’s pricing is still about NT$ 60,000 less. If not particularly pursuing the origin of the 007 collaboration and considering the price purely, the new Seamaster Diver 300m would be more attractive at this point.
