How Does the New OMEGA Aqua Terra 150m with Turquoise Gradient Dials Stand Out

by crystal-cq

OMEGA, which has recently launched several new models such as the Seamaster Diver 300m and the Speedmaster Pilot, has also quietly introduced another piece, the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m. This watch seems relatively “low-key” as it is a minor updated version with a changed dial color. At first glance, it may not sound very surprising, but when actually seeing the pictures of the watch, one would be deeply impressed by it, because it features an unprecedented new color on the dial, giving the watch a fresh and vibrant look.

Since mid-2024, new generations of the Aqua Terra have been introduced, including 41mm, 38mm, and 34mm versions with black dials, Moonshine™ gold cases with green dials, and half-steel and half-Moonshine™ gold with black dials. Additionally, during the Paris Olympics, a special edition was launched for the “Swedish Sweetheart” pole vaulting star Armand Duplantis. In fact, quite a few new additions have been made within just half a year. And as 2024 is coming to an end, Omega’s pace of launching new models has not stopped. The new models are 41mm and 38mm steel case styles, with the highlight being that they both come with bright lacquer gradient turquoise dials.

The Aqua Terra 150m introduced new stainless steel models before the end of 2024, both 38mm and 41mm featuring the unprecedented gradient turquoise dials.

The new Aqua Terra 150m is somewhat different from most models in the series. The watch dial does not have the traditional horizontal deck pattern, and the case is also given a full polishing treatment. Even the shape of the bracelet links has been modified to be shorter and with a slight arc. Therefore, it can be regarded as a variant of the Aqua Terra 150m, a more dressy and elegantly designed version.

Compared to other new Aqua Terra 150m models in 2024, this model with the turquoise dial is visually more attractive due to the color that has never been used before. The turquoise color appears in the center of the dial and gradually darkens towards the edges. The hands, three-dimensional applique hour markers, and the border of the date window are all plated in black. The OMEGA logo, series name, and other words at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock on the dial are also black. As for the luminous coating on the hands and hour markers, it is white, and the date disc is black with white numbers. The strong contrast highlights the turquoise color, which is the focus of this modification. At the place where the color of the dial edge darkens, Omega has placed bright turquoise scales. The color transition is smooth, prominent, and very unique. Even without significant modifications in appearance and function, this watch is still hard to resist.

The two sizes of the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m are equipped with the 8900 movement (41mm) and the 8800 movement (38mm) respectively, both reliable works certified by the Master Chronometer.

Both the 41mm and 38mm versions feature three hands and a date display, and the case backs have transparent casebacks to reveal the movements. However, the overall thickness of the former is 13.3mm, while the latter is 12.4mm. The difference is somewhat related to their movements, one being the 8900 (41mm) and the other being the 8800 (38mm). The polishing and decoration of the movements are similar, such as the Arabic Geneva waves on the baseplate and the automatic rotor, which are important features of Omega’s movement polishing. The oscillation frequencies of the two movements are both 3.5Hz. However, the 8900 contains two barrels and can output 60 hours of power reserve, while the 8800 relies on a single barrel to provide 55 hours of power reserve. Needless to say, they are both works certified by the METAS Master Chronometer, and the quality is more superior than the general chronometer certification, which is also the support behind the popularity of Omega watches.
