Rolex Datejust 41: Pricing, Features and Market Trends

by crystal-cq

The Datejust, which belongs to the entry-level series of Rolex along with the Oyster Perpetual, has relatively higher functionality (with an additional date display) and comes in three sizes. Moreover, it offers more diversity in materials, external components such as bezels and bracelets, as well as dial designs. Therefore, it has always had its own market and might even be more popular than you imagine. A renowned watch e-commerce platform once tallied their annual sales situation and discovered that the best-selling Rolex model was the Datejust. It seems that this collection, with its relatively accessible entry threshold, rich styles, and classic and durable designs, is actually the priority choice for the market when picking watches.

The Datejust series currently offers three sizes: 31mm, 36mm, and 41mm. Among them, the 41mm size is the most favored by men. After all, this size gives a sense of stability and weight when worn and is suitable for both work and leisure occasions. However, the 41mm model has seen few changes in recent years. The most impressive was the introduction of the dial along with the 36mm model’s modification in 2021, refreshing people’s eyes (Editor’s note: This dial pattern has been discontinued in 2024). The palm leaf pattern dial was not simultaneously transplanted to the 41mm model. However, both of these dial patterns were officially discontinued after the Geneva Watch and Wonders exhibition in 2024. The flower pattern dial applied to the 31mm model in 2022 is still retained in the product line. The Datejust 41, with few new elements recently, has a vast lineup formed by the original materials, color schemes, and various detail differences. It doesn’t need new designs every year but still makes people hesitate for a long time when choosing a watch.

The Datejust 41 has seen relatively few changes in recent years, but the introduction of the dial along with the 36mm model’s modification in the previous two years was refreshing (Editor’s note: This dial pattern has been discontinued in 2024).

Like other Rolex series, the pricing of the Datejust has been increasing year by year in recent years. Looking at the brand’s price list from previous years, it can be found that the entry-level model 126300 of the Datejust 41 in 2018 (stainless steel, polished bezel, and three-link bracelet) was priced at NT$236,500. By 2025, it has increased to NT$292,500, with a price difference of 23.6% over seven years. Especially after they adjusted the prices of all product lines again in 2025, the prices now are significantly different from seven years ago. Below, we directly list the current models of the Datejust 41 from the entry-level to the top-level, and their materials, bezels, and bracelet forms all have some individual differences, which are also reflected in the pricing of the watches.

From these five Datejust 41 models, it can be seen that the variety of the series is truly high. Unlike the Oyster Perpetual, regardless of the changes in dial color and craftsmanship, the external materials and contour lines remain the same, and of course, the pricing for each size is fixed. Unlike the Datejust, there are tiered price differences.

The pricing of 126300 (stainless steel, polished bezel, five-link bracelet) is NT$300,000, and the current average secondary market price is approximately NT$300,000.

In recent years, due to the overall rise in the market of popular Rolex watches, the market prices of some Datejust models have also surpassed the official pricing and reached their peak in the first quarter of 2022. However, since then until now, the value of the Datejust has again responded to changes in the general environment and has been continuously declining. Therefore, after more than two and a half years of development, the secondary market prices of some models of the Datejust 41 family have started to loosen and even fall below the official pricing.

According to the data from the advanced watch market research institution WatchCharts, the quotations of various models of the Datejust 41 series (taking the five models mentioned above as examples) in the foreign secondary market in July 2024 were US$9,287 (approximately NT$303,000) for 126300-0002 (stainless steel, polished bezel, five-link bracelet), US$12,504 (approximately NT$408,000) for 126334-0003 (white gold steel, fluted bezel, three-link bracelet), US$12,850 (approximately NT$420,000) for 126301-0001 (Everose gold steel, polished bezel, three-link bracelet), US$12,658 (approximately NT$413,000) for 126303-0010 (yellow gold steel, polished bezel, five-link bracelet), and US$14,390 (approximately NT$470,000) for 126333-0012. Generally, the value retention of the watches is still acceptable, and three of them are in the overpricing situation.

The pricing of 126334 (white gold steel, fluted bezel, three-link bracelet) is NT$376,500, and the current average secondary market price is approximately NT$413,000.

By January 2025, the market trends of these Datejust 41 models have generally been fluctuating but relatively stable. Even several models have shown a slight upward trend compared to a month ago. The secondary market prices of the Everose gold steel model 126301-0001 and the white gold steel model 126334-0003 are better than last month, while the other three models have continued to decline. According to WatchCharts, the current market trends of the five models are US$9,230 (approximately NT$300,000) for 126300-0002 (stainless steel, polished bezel, five-link bracelet), US$12,649 (approximately NT$413,000) for 126334-0003 (white gold steel, fluted bezel, three-link bracelet), US$12,968 (approximately NT$423,000) for 126301-0001 (Everose gold steel, polished bezel, three-link bracelet), US$11,985 (approximately NT$390,000) for 126303-0010 (yellow gold steel, polished bezel, five-link bracelet), and US$13,943 (approximately NT$455,000) for 126333-0012. Compared to the market trends half a year ago, the values of three of the five Datejust 41 models have slightly decreased, while the secondary market prices of the 126334-0003 and 126301-0001, which contain precious metals, have increased compared to half a year ago.

The pricing of 126333 (yellow gold steel, fluted bezel, five-link bracelet, diamond-set hour markers) is NT$625,500, and the current average secondary market price is approximately NT$455,000.

Among the five Datejust 41 models, only two models are currently overpriced. The highest premium rate is 19.8% for 126334-0003, followed by 13.2% for 126300-0002. Other models with K gold components and higher pricing are all within the official pricing range. This shows that the Datejust 41 models with higher pricing are less sought-after in the secondary market. The more entry-level materials and designs, due to the large number of pursuers, have better actual prices in the secondary market. Therefore, for those targeting the gold steel Datejust 41, the probability of finding them within the official pricing is relatively higher at present. However, if you want to choose the stainless steel model, the budget still needs to be slightly higher than the official pricing to have a chance.

From top to bottom, the current foreign latest quotations and price trends of 126300, 126334, 126301, 126303, and 126333.
