Before Apple’s recent Glowtime event on September 9, speculation was rife about the debut of several new devices, including the highly anticipated Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the budget-friendly Watch SE 3. However, neither of these wearables made an appearance, which wasn’t entirely unexpected given last-minute reports suggesting their absence.
Now, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stepped in with fresh insights, claiming that both the Ultra 3 and Watch SE 3 will make their debut in 2025.
Kuo’s prediction aligns with his earlier forecast from October 2023, in which he stated that neither watch would be launched that year. However, he later adjusted his outlook, hinting at an updated wearable release in 2023—likely referring to the new satin black finish of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. His latest report confirms that the Ultra 3 and SE 3 are slated for 2025, offering a clearer window into Apple’s future wearable plans.
While 2025 is a broad timeframe, we can make educated guesses about the potential release dates. Apple is rumored to be working on a major upgrade for the iPhone SE, which could launch in the spring of 2025. Considering that the last iPhone SE 3 was announced in March 2022, Apple may follow a similar schedule for the fourth-generation SE. It wouldn’t be surprising if Apple chose to unveil the Watch SE 3 alongside the iPhone SE (2025), allowing both devices to leverage the growing Apple Intelligence ecosystem.
As for the Apple Watch Ultra 3, it’s more likely that Apple will stick to its usual September event for its flagship wearable. This could see the Ultra 3 debut alongside the iPhone 17 lineup, where Apple might introduce a new naming convention, possibly swapping out the “Plus” branding for names like “iPhone Air” or “iPhone 17 Slim.”
For now, it appears we’ll have to wait until next year for any new Apple wearables. In the meantime, Apple has just released the impressive Watch Series 10, giving fans something to enjoy while they await the next generation of devices.
