Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega marked the 75th anniversary of its iconic Seamaster collection with the unveiling of a new “Summer Blue” colorway. The launch event took place last week in Sanya, a coastal city chosen as a tribute to Omega’s long-standing connection with the ocean.
The Seamaster collection, known for its precision and innovation, includes seven iconic models from a total of 11 timepieces. Each watch features a unique shade of blue, symbolizing different aspects of the ocean and varying depths of water resistance. The range includes the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m with a light blue dial, perfect for a yacht trip, and the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 6,000m, designed for the deepest parts of the ocean.
The event, themed “Precision at Every Level,” featured a star-studded guest list from entertainment, sports, and the watch industry. Omega ambassadors Liu Shishi, American actor Glen Powell, Chinese short-board surfing champion Qin Zhuo, and free-diving champion Zhang Yi were among the distinguished guests. Attendees were given a closer look at the intricate craftsmanship of the watches, including a commemorative caseback engraved with Poseidon, holding a trident, and two seahorses.
The ocean theme continued with a stunning beachside display of the new Seamaster in Summer Blue collection. Timepieces were showcased on pedestals representing different water resistance depths—150, 300, 600, 1,200, and 6,000 meters. As the sun set and the waves gently rolled in, the evening concluded with a candlelit dinner on the beach, a Summer Blue-themed venue, live music, and a surprise fireworks display over the South China Sea.
Omega CEO and president Raynald Aeschlimann expressed pride in the collection’s legacy, noting, “The many tributes paid to Seamaster here in Sanya offer proof of its versatility.” The event left a lasting impression on all attendees, and while Omega’s next move remains a mystery, the celebration of this iconic collection was one to remember.
