However, compared to the consistently high secondary market price of Rolex’s Submariner, the Seamaster Diver 300m appears much more reasonable. Its pricing is lower than the Submariner, and the market trend does not reach the exaggerated level of overpricing. As long as you have the intention and budget, you can usually purchase it – isn’t this the normal market state we hope for? Therefore, in recent years, many people, after waiting in vain for the Submariner, have turned their attention to the Seamaster Diver 300m series, which is not at all surprising.
The general version of the Seamaster Diver 300m does not have a particularly outstanding market performance. However, within this series, there are currently several highly talked-about pieces worth noting. One of them is the Seamaster Diver 300m 007 limited edition (available in Milanese bracelet and NATO strap versions) created by Omega in 2019 in response to the 25th James Bond film, “No Time to Die”. This watch is quite interesting. When it was launched, it was in anticipation of the release of “No Time to Die” the following year. However, due to the pandemic, the film’s release was repeatedly postponed. In Taiwan, it was not shown on the big screen until September 30, 2021. The pricing of both 007-themed Seamaster Diver 300m watches is higher than that of the general version, which still shows that having a star theme often enhances the value of the product itself. However, judging from the secondary market performance of most Omega watches, will the Seamaster Diver 300m with the 007 star halo have a mediocre market value like the general version, or will it have a skyrocketing premium rate like the Speedmaster Snoopy Moonwatch?
The original price of the stainless steel blue dial 60th anniversary commemorative model 210.30.42.20.03.002 of the Bond film is NT$ 276,000, and the current average secondary market price is approximately NT$ 244,000.
According to the data from the advanced watch market research institution WatchCharts, the Seamaster Diver 300m with the 007 theme seems to be closer to our impression of the secondary market price of general Omega watches. The earlier-released 210.90.42.20.01.001 (007 limited edition) may be due to the influence of several marketing setbacks and its pricing being much higher than the basic model of the series. Therefore, even at the peak of the popular watch market in early 2022, this watch did not experience a sharp increase and remained just slightly below the official pricing. After more than two years of the market slump of popular watches, the market price of 210.90.42.20.01.001 (007 limited edition) was around US$ 7,100 (approximately NT$ 233,000) around July 2024. Additionally, Omega has also increased the pricing of the watch during this period, resulting in a seemingly larger discount space. The other model, 210.30.42.20.03.002 (60th anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film), is relatively more popular. Its secondary market price reached US$ 8,223 (approximately NT$ 270,000) in July 2024 and has officially dropped below the official pricing.
Now, half a year later, according to the data observed by WatchCharts, the market trends of both watches have undergone some changes during this period. The price of 210.90.42.20.01.001 (007 limited edition) has fluctuated, with foreign quotations oscillating between US$ 6,900 and US$ 7,200. After July, it began to decline continuously, but from mid-September to the present, it has suddenly increased significantly, returning to this year’s high point. Currently, the market has stabilized at US$ 7,184 (approximately NT$ 235,000). The 210.30.42.20.03.002 (60th anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film), on the other hand, has been deteriorating. Its overpricing market ended after mid-May 2024. Since then, the foreign quotations have continuously declined for eight months, and now it has further dropped to US$ 7,432 (approximately NT$ 244,000), which is also the lowest point this year and since its launch.
Currently, both 007-themed Seamaster Diver 300m watches no longer have an overpricing market. It is relatively easier to purchase them now. Especially the current secondary market price of the 60th anniversary commemorative model of the Bond film should be the result that many people have been waiting for for a long time. Perhaps the best time to purchase has quietly arrived.
