Omega Unveils New Seamaster Diver 300M “Daniel Craig” Editions, a Competitor to Rolex’s Submariner

by Barbara Wilson

Omega’s latest release of the Seamaster Diver 300M has generated significant buzz, particularly with its association to actor Daniel Craig, who was spotted wearing one in public. The watch’s striking design and advanced movement have positioned it as a serious contender to the iconic Rolex Submariner, offering a comparable luxury experience at a more accessible price point.

Introduced earlier in 2024, the latest “Daniel Craig” edition of the Seamaster Diver 300M (Ref. 210.30.42.20.01.010) carries the same 42mm diameter case (49.7mm lug-to-lug) as the highly sought-after Seamaster 300M 007 Edition. However, this version departs from its titanium predecessor, opting instead for stainless steel. It features a black aluminum laser-engraved dial with white luminescent markings and a black anodized aluminum bezel, highlighted by a luminous diving scale. The case thickness has increased slightly to 13.8mm, adding to its robust presence on the wrist.

Omega’s automatic Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8806 powers the Seamaster Diver 300M, ensuring precise timekeeping with a chronometer rating of 0/+5 seconds per day. The 8806 movement is also anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss and boasts an impressive 55-hour power reserve, making it an exceptional choice for those seeking both precision and durability.

For those who prefer a slightly different style, Omega has released a second variation without the “Daniel Craig” moniker. This model features a gray PVD stainless steel dial with a vertical brushed finish and a titanium bezel. The diving scale is laser-ablated in positive relief with a single dot of white lume at 12 o’clock, reminiscent of the design found on the Seamaster Nekton Edition.

Both versions of the Seamaster Diver 300M are equipped with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-glare treatment, and both are water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters. The watches are also equipped with a helium escape valve, a feature designed for deep-sea divers. Consumers can choose between a Milanese mesh bracelet with a folding clasp priced at $6,500 or an integrated rubber strap with a folding clasp at $5,900.

While the decision to choose between the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M and a Rolex Submariner no-date remains a matter of personal preference, the new Seamaster models offer compelling value. With similar features and performance, they come at a significantly lower price point, making them a desirable alternative for watch enthusiasts looking for a luxury timepiece that is easier to acquire.
