Apple appears to be nearing the launch of the iPhone SE 4, with new information shedding light on what to expect from the tech giant’s latest budget-friendly offering. According to a report from The Elec, BOE has been chosen as the primary display supplier for the iPhone SE 4, with LG Display serving as the secondary vendor. This news brings some much-needed details about the device, which has been shrouded in secrecy since the last update in March 2022.
The iPhone SE 4 is anticipated to feature a significantly larger 6.1-inch display, marking a notable upgrade from the current 4.7-inch model. This increase in screen size would put the iPhone SE 4 on par with the iPhone 15 and the forthcoming iPhone 16 models. Along with the larger display, the next iPhone SE is expected to incorporate Face ID, signaling the end of Touch ID via the traditional home button. Additionally, the iPhone SE 4 is likely to transition from the Lightning port to a USB-C port, aligning with the current iPhone lineup.
In terms of hardware, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to come equipped with a new chip, improved cameras, and possibly a fresh array of color options.
While there’s no confirmed release date for the iPhone SE 4, it’s speculated that the launch could occur before the end of the year. However, considering Apple’s history with the SE lineup, a 2025 release seems more probable.
The iPhone SE line has seen a gradual evolution since its debut in 2016 with a compact 4-inch display. Four years later, Apple introduced the iPhone SE 2 with a 4.7-inch display, followed by the iPhone SE 3 two years after that.
Regardless of the timing for the iPhone SE 4, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 series this September, continuing its annual tradition of new iPhone launches.
