In an extraordinary turn of events, Debbie Asher of Stamford has been reunited with her Apple Watch three years after losing it. The device, valued at approximately £500, was recovered earlier this week, much to Asher’s surprise.
The smartwatch had gone missing during a summer walk in 2021, leaving Asher disheartened as she had only recently replaced a previous watch that had been damaged. Despite her disappointment, she chose not to purchase a third watch, resigning herself to life without it.
The long-lost Apple Watch surfaced when an employee from Casterton Stores, located on Little Casterton Road, took the initiative to charge the device after it had been stored behind the counter, presumed broken. To their amazement, the watch powered up and the employee was able to contact Asher’s emergency contact, her 19-year-old son Tomas.
“I was astonished,” Debbie Asher said. “I never imagined I’d see it again.” She expressed her joy at being reunited with her watch, acknowledging the rarity of recovering a lost item after such a long period.
The watch is in working condition and is back on Asher’s wrist, although she anticipates it may require a system upgrade to be fully functional. Asher’s story serves as a heartening reminder of the unexpected ways in which lost items can be found and returned.
